My name is Simone Krebbers. I'm 19 years old and I am starting my internship at JUTKA & RISKA. I'm a third year student at Sint Lucas, VPP/ Styling (design product presentation). Currently I'm living together with some friends in a house in Amsterdam. One of my biggest hobbies is illustrating and besides that I love to hang out with friends. I hope to learn a lot and to gain experience at JUTKA & RISKA the next 5 months!

Here's some snap shots of the fashion shows and the pop-up shop at the MC Theater last week during Amsterdam Fashion Week. We are still in the process of arranging more footage, hopefully it will follow soon.
Now that Amsterdam fashion week is a done deal, you would guess it's time to sit back and relax? Well, not exactly......This Monday we started working on the new collection. Amazing to realize we get to go back and start from this clean slate with lots of space (NO MORE OUTER SPACE ;-) for new excitement. We love this job!

Event report #1: Models backstage at our S/S 2012 fashion show

What took us so long? Felt like I had to sleep 3 days straight after the whole event and the cleaning up the day after were done. WE HAD A BLAST! Thanks to all of you who, re-posted the event, shared our links, visited the event (!) and made it so incredible worth all of the effort we and our dedicated team put into it. The photo's taken of our visitors at the wall of fame will soon be posted on our Facebook wall. Fashion Week in full swing: Modefabriek DAY 2 pics

As we just opened our pop-up shop @ MC Theater Amsterdam about an hour ago, here's a photo report of our previous pop-up party with Trash & Treasures at the Modefabriek last Monday.

Apart from an overall very exciting time with our little boutique at Trash & Treasures, we used the little extra time we had to run around to inhale some inspiration. We stopped quickly at the NEXT /Cutting Edge platform where we hit the spot of A-COUPLE, a label by young designers Laia en Núria from Spain. They presented their collection named '1st trip: Saigon', a collection inspired by the Vietnam war. Well, a damn good looking war we reckon (pics 1, 2 and 3). They start out using very strict geometric shapes, but use flowing materials, which results in a great juxtaposition. Most remarkable in their collection are the loose knits that hug the body contours perfectly.

Later on, we ran into Robin (23) from Eindhoven (pics below). She works as a dancer and wears clothes from her own (!) label 'Prey of London'. Great style Robin and nice to meet you!

We are getting the last things together for the fashion show on Wednesday night (25th of Jan, 18.30-21.30). Tomorrow we try out the runway make up. I'll do my best to get some pics, so you can have another sneak peak. If you want to see the result in full swing, make sure to be there with us on Wednesday the 25th at the MC Theater, Westergasterrein Amsterdam. The fashion show runs every half hour between 18.30 and 21.30 hrs so you are free to come in and leave at any time you like. Hope to see you there!

It's been a great weekend getting more stuff sorted out and planned. We feel like the planets are alining more or less at our pace, we could not have asked for more.

This week our upcoming (25th of January!) fashion show and one day pop-up shop was even mentioned in the Volkskrant Magazine (the magazine that comes with the Saturday Volkskrant newspaper). It was referred to as part of a whole story on the pop-up shop phenomenon in which they gave some tips of shops about to pop-up. Big thank you to the VK, we really appreciate that! To get you in the mood here's a tune from a band from the 70ties called 'SPACE', we would love to get our hands on record sleeves from this band. Their outfits look incredibly promising. Just like the ladies in this b/w photograph rocking another space inspired look from back in the day.

From the Ripley’s file comes this story from Cosham, UK, where 76 year-old Margaret Wells was recently re-united with her full-size handmade E.T doll after it washed up on the shore off Old Portsmouth, five miles away from her home. The doll, which had earlier been stolen from her home, was mistaken for a drowned human, resulting in a frantic call to the local police who returned the doll to Wells: ‘He has lost a finger and looks a bit roughed up. But he has a smile on his face’.

In the midst of planning out the decor for our Amsterdam shop windows and deciding on the styling for the models presenting our new collection, we like to Google. And even though it does not surprise us one bit (we love it!), SPACE has been a theme in fashion many times before. We giggled when we stumbled upon this set of pictures of the Space Age Helmet Emilio Pucci designed for Braniff Airlines.

If we had to guess I bet we would not have come up with this brilliant story: Emilio Pucci's Bubble Helmet was designed (in the days prior to the air-bridge) to protect the coiffure from wind and rain on the walk from the terminal to the aircraft.

When we just rode our bikes home through the incredibly stormy streets of Amsterdam we certainly wished we had one of our own. These girls definitely look great and so does their hair!

It's been a while. With all kind of stuff jumping for our attention here's the reveal of the 80 something original vintage Leonard pieces that we got in our Antwerp store to sell under consignment. Lots of new creative labels, designers and artists found their way to the beautiful building in the heart of Amsterdam to gather and show their most startling creations.

Busloads of tourists have already discovered these hidden gems in Magna Plaza and because we know that our dear locals might need a little bit of extra incitement, together with our new Magna Plaza neighbors we create a special shopping experience weekend THIS WEEKEND 5 & 6 November @ Magna Plaza, Amsterdam. This seems to pop up everywhere, so I guess we can speak of a dip-n-dye trend? It sure gives your natural cute appearance a colorful well-deserved punky edge to it. We love the combination with super feminine lace, powdery dresses, although it also works well with your tomboy outfit or strong and sexy look. The dip-n-dye is perfectly suitable for a DIY approach. Neat vintage clothing, inspiring interiors, modern arts, trendy people and a lot more. That was jam-packed together in the MINI MALL at the ArtVintageMARKET in Rotterdam. We were ever so pleased to welcome loads of visitors into our temporary store. Here are some pics of our little instant store. The light was not forgiving, so apologies for some of the pics. As you can see, even our super loyal canine companion joined us, guarding the store, wearing a very distinct hat for the occasion.

Here some pics of the other miniatures stores at the ArtVintageMARKET. So much design furniture that was just to die for, we are lucky to still be alive ;-).

In the MINI MALL we ran into some young designers. First is Hanneke van Leeuwen,. a.k.a. Dearhunter. She is a Rotterdam based designer of jewelry and bags. Finding her real love in fashion she recently developed her own accessory-line. We can't help but feel true love for Dearhunter Accessories! Isn't her stuff amazing and whimsical? For Fee Concept Store, we asked our in-house designers to compile a special collection, called 'Skin, Denim and Spice'. This collection consists solely of one-offs and very limited editions. We had an amazing photoshoot with our intern Kim for the brand new Fee webshop. Check out our first handpicked pictures of the photoshoot.

It's been some time already, but never too late to serve you some intern input. All of our Dutch interns have left us just before their summer holiday started, but their bubbly personalities still linger around at our Amsterdam attic workshop.

Jenske is one of them, she studies styling and wanted to learn how to plan and organize an event. So that's exactly what she did: she took the lead in organizing the Fashion Week opening party in our Amsterdam store garden. We had a blast! I'm sure you have seen the post with too many pictures ;-) What she also did is she styled all of her fellow interns and took the pictures below. Super lollipop Jenske style! Another temporary store was born: we really got the hang of popping up at other places so we decided to show our upcoming Skin, Denim and Spice collection on September 24 at ArtVintageMARKET in Rotterdam. Save that date! More about the upcoming collection will follow SOON.

Once initiated in a joint venture of BLEND with Contain.r MINI MALL will open its' doors to the public in September 2011. The mall is located under ‘the seven arches’ — the former train station Hofplein and will be hosting the ArtVintageMARKET including a small Jutka & Riska hide out.

ArtVintageMARKET premieres on September 24 with a variety of contemporary art, ranging from fashion design to painting and interior designs. Up-and-coming, talented artists are showcasing their best to the visitors of ArtVintageMARKET. As I already shouted out on facebook, ROPAROSA sept '11 arrived! Here are two dresses and a legging that we just received in our stores: the DIAMOND dress (top pics), ROCK dress and the ROCK legging (pics below). Solid pieces that give a whole new edgy flavor to the LBD. Good thing about the leggings is that they have extra long legs, so for all those lucky long-legged ladies out there, no more highwaters with the ROPAROSA rock leggings ;-)

Not only the garments are new, also the luscious feathery earrings are new in store (all 4 stores that is). They come for anything in between €4,- to €8,- in all kinds of colors, shapes and sizes.

Ans is wearing vintage boots from our Amsterdam store and holds a vintage handbag. The beige Jacques Heim (the late French couture designer) bag is €55,-, the pink clutch is €45,- both available at our Amsterdam store.

For those of you who do not know or use Bloglovin' (BL) yet: I (and all others who follow their favorite blogs via BL) receive an e-mail every morning listing links to the most recent posts on all the blogs that I follow through Bloglovin'. All I have to do is click the links to flick through all the new posts that were put online the previous day. This way I remain up to date without wandering past all blog in my bookmark list. So it's efficient but it's also a fun way of extending your blogroll, because it real easy to discover new inspiring weblogs via BL.

InStore: New arrivals part three

Three times two ladies, good old Lionel got it all wrong ;-). We got to sharing the final part of our new arrivals shoot with you (but we got new stuff entering our store every week!). A bit sad, but I'm pretty sure we will have a new shoot up on the blog before you know it! Liene and Veerle have done a wonderful job walking through a Belgian forest, modeling some of our JUTKA & RISKA limited edition dresses this time. These so-called OSLO dresses are made from original Dries van Noten fabrics and as you can see they totally work as an extremely ladylike and fashionable outdoor look.

These pictures remind me of a French children song I learned in high school...."Promenons nous dans les bois, pendant que le loup... y est?" No worries, no wolves around in this fashion forest. Nothing but two girls with fancy dresses, fun bags and super colorful scarves....

Just a few minutes ago 2 Scandinavian girls hit our Amsterdam store with this bright blue bible like book in their hands. Nevertheless these girls looked nothing like proper missionaries...(not sure if I even know what a missionary looks like?!?). They were brought to us by "LeCool - A weird and wonderful guide to Amsterdam". It appears JUTKA & RISKA Amsterdam (formerly known as JUTKA) is cool/weird/wonderful enough to be mentioned in this guidebook. We love it!

JUTKA & RISKA spend a Day At The Park

Here's a little flashback: last Saturday we conquered rain and mud to spend a day at the park @ A DAY AT THE PARK. The Dutch dance festival also known as ADATP was held in the Amsterdam forest (Amsterdamse bos). On the festival terrain we found some shelter in a small area surrounded by trees and bushes. Together with the other Trash and Treasures participants, we turned our market stall into a rain-proof shelter and kept warm by dancing in the muddy grass wearing our super fashionable ;-) trustworthy jackboots. It was a long but super fun day, we got lots of positive reactions from festival visitors and sold accessories, hats, bags and animal t-shirts. Luckily almost everything we brought matched perfectly with the poncho trend that hit the ADATP area ;-). The vibe was perfect and since we were back-to-back with the main stage field, we enjoyed the best dj's all day long! Can I please get that playlist combined with the comfort of our store next time?

Stunning. The way Maryam Kordbacheh (originally from Iran, hence the unpronouncable familyname) works the fabrics like a sculptor is simply astonishing.This is origami extraordinaire. Maryam creates her own patterns by molding, discovering new shapes along the way. We could not resist taking some extra pictures to make sure you can all get acquainted with her whimsical works. And as you can see by the amount of pics, we are also very fond of the accompanying footwear. A girl simply can't do without them ;-)

Not only do these two ladies create fierce designs, they are also super nice girls extremely passionate about their work. Fabrics are pleated, see-through, delicate and flowy. FashionWeek: Cutting Edge groupshow @ Modefabriek

Like a precious wholesome creative isle in the midst of the busy yet slightly conservative fashion labels you could find the so called 'cutting edge' designers. This is the spot for inspiration, meeting passionate people and feasting your eyes on all that candy. They were kind enough to invite us to their group show. As a result of a strange kind of mistake I even ended up in front of all press photographers on the floor directly next to the far end of the runway, so I simply had to take some shots (as usual all photo's by ourselves unless stated otherwise). The next few days we will feature our personal favorites.

Starting with the label that we sold in our stores last season and we will sell again (!) next season: Roos van der Kamps' label ROPAROSA. She teamed up with jewelery designer and stylist Beatrice Jolly. We ordered several dresses: Lots of silk and leather straps, vibrant colors, clean lines and beautiful details. Just see for yourself.....

Feeling incredibly happy and exhausted therefore I am blogging this straight from my bathtub. Don't get any funny thoughts, it's the poor legs that really needed some relief, a hot bath seemed like the best remedy ;-) And since I do not want to risk either damaging the MacBook nor electrocuting myself in the tub, it'll be a short post. Just to give you an impression of our last day at the fashion trade fair in Amsterdam. Tomorrow we'll put up a post + pics we took at the runway show of the group of cutting edge designers at Modefabriek today. Amazing show of collections by labels such as RopaRosa, Bravoure and many others. The water is getting cold now...gotta stop. Until then!

FashionWeek: Rockin' the Modefabriek

Yeeehaaa! This must have been the most crazy pop-up Jutka & Riska so far. BUSY BUSY BUSY, fashion people everywhere all hungry for goodies that they can actually take home themselves instead of ordering stuff for their stores 6 months-1 year in advance. What a great vibe. Nevertheless we turned a little sad when we said goodbye to some of our personal favorites. Lucky enough the new owners were kind and willing to let us take one farewell photo (see below). We are pretty sure the girls will take excellent care of the coat/jacket, one thing is for sure: they look super cute in them!

Now time for a bath... revitalize our poor legs, because tomorrow we have another great day ahead of us. Feel free to stop by at our mini-store at Trash & Treasures in the Industry hall @ Modefabriek trade fair Rai Amsterdam. Hope to see you there!

FashionWeek: JUTKA & RISKA stores everywhere!

Busy FashionWeek days we are running through: today the pop-up store at the Amsterdam Magna Plaza shopping centre opened its doors! Part of our Animal Parade collection is available there but only today and tomorrow from 10.00-19.00. Then on Sunday and Monday our temporary store will proceed at the Modefabriek (trade fair for fashion, accessories and footwear) in the Rai-building, Amsterdam. Will definitely put up some pics of each of the FashionWeek pop-up JUTKA & RISKA spots later. So if you won't be able to come and have a look yourself, you still get an impression of what we are up to. What are you up to this FashionWeek? Seeing shows? Visiting the trade fair? InSpire: Rietveld Fashion Graduate Elvira 't Hart

From Wednesday the 6th until Sunday the 10th of July the Gerrit Rietveld Academy for arts and design opened its' doors to the public, looking nothing like a school building but more like one big gallery filled with inspiring works by the gifted graduates of 2011. As true fashion victims we were first and foremost drawn to the fashion design department where we saw the collections of Amos Tranque, Jana Chocholackova, Joshuah Enker, Pablo Londono Sarria and last but certainly not least the designs of Elvira 't Hart. Talking about a sketchy graduation collection ;-) I don't want to try to explain too much about it, we just really love the direct connection between sketching phase and the translation to the actual design, it's best to check out the pictures below.
